You also risk damaging the organs with the use of unregulated drugs and sedatives for staying asleep. In extreme cases, the risk of death becomes very real.

Cotton Ball Diet

This weird weight loss strategy recommends that you swallow cotton balls soaked in orange juice to suppress your appetite. Not only do you deny your body of any nutrition and risk intestinal blockage, but be warned that most cotton balls are made of bleached, synthetic fibers. Would you risk your pet swallowing them?

Considering that more than 480,000 people die from smoking each year, adopting the habit to lose weight hardly seems worth it. So, if someone advises you to light up to curb your cravings for food, think again!

Aoqili Diet Soaps

Created out of aloe vera and seaweed, aoqili diet soaps are great for giving you smooth, soft, and beautiful skin. You might find them in Asian stores, but if you’re told that they can help in your weight loss efforts by liquefying the layer of fat under your skin as you bathe, don’t believe that! Soap is good for personal hygiene, nothing more!

This one was probably invented by the makers of blue-colored lens for glasses. It is based on the absurd premise that if the food you look at doesn’t look appetizing enough, you won’t eat it. So, each time you sit down for a meal, you’re expected to wear the glasses. The fact is that all the colorful foods like fruits and vegetables are actually excellent for you. By eliminating them from your weight loss program, you’ll be removing highly nutritious and low-calorie foods.

Tapeworm Diet

This one’s a really scary program for losing weight. According to the diet, you ingest the eggs of the tapeworm. Once the parasite grows in your intestines, it will eat the food you consume, so you shed the inches. Having reached your ideal weight, you can get a medical practitioner to recommend a deworming medication to pass the parasite out of your body.

Intentionally introducing a worm into your body isn’t just the downside. Keep in mind that the eggs can migrate to other parts of your body. The critters can grow up to 30 feet long and can cause infections and effects like nausea, vomiting, dementia, epilepsy, headaches, and diarrhea. HCG Diet

The HCG diet allows you only 500 calories a day and to help you suppress hunger, you’ll be given injections of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). Yes, it is approved by the FDA, but as a fertility treatment and most definitely not for weight loss. You’re likely to see results, but that’s because of the extremely small number of calories that you’re consuming each day. You also need to remember that HCG can have potential side effects like headaches, depression and anxiety, and blood clots. And, if you come across homeopathic HCG products that are available over the counter, avoid them because they’re illegal.

Chewing Diet

Created by Horace Fletcher and supposedly followed by many celebrities, the chewing diet recommends that you munch on every mouthful of food thoroughly. But, you don’t swallow it. After chewing it for a while, you should spit out the “purified” remains. Now, that’s a little bit gross! And, no! It’s not effective for weight loss.
